This guide is for folks that are new to FoundryVTT and cloud hosting. It will walk you through installing your first world, and getting your players connected. Please also review the wonderful FoundryVTT Getting Started Guide for more information.

1. Create your server. Give your server a name that represents how you plan to run your games. Because you can run multiple campaigns on a single server, its recommended to name the server after your brand instead of a single game/campaign. Once you've created it, give us a few minutes to get it up and running (usually < 5 minutes).

   • DO: wallys-wonderful-worlds, adventures-in-faerun, goobergobblers-games
   • DONT: tomb-of-annihilation, into-the-abyss, attack-on-titan

   

2. Once your server is created, lets review some of the information that is presented to you on your server page.

   

   • Server Name ⇒ You set this! Its yours!
   • Server Status ⇒ This is the current state of your server. We put your server to sleep to save you/us money, so don't be alarmed if its STOPPING on its own.
   • Storage ⇒ We measure the amount of storage space you have left on your server and show it here.
   • URL ⇒ This is the URL your game can be accessed at. You can give this to your players so they can connect to the game.
   • Server Startup Url ⇒ Often called the "Magic URL", you can give this link to your players to wake the server without giving out your Molten Password. Make sure you set a default world so your players can start the server directly to a game and not the admin area!
   • Admin Access Key ⇒ In order to protect your server, we set a default password that you must enter when logging into FoundryVTT. You can always change this password yourself later on.
   • FTP Details ⇒ This will only show up if you are in the PRO/ELITE tier. For more information on FTP check out this guide.

3. Lets get your server setup! First step is entering your FoundryVTT license key.

   NOTE: MoltenHosting does not supply FoundryVTT license keys. They can be bought here.

4. Read and Accept the FoundryVTT EULA.

5. Enter the Default Admin Access Key from step 2 above.

6. Nice! We're in!

   

7. For simplicity's sake we're going to install the DnD 5e system and the included campaign Clash At Kobold Cauldron.

   1. Install DnD5e

      

   2. Install Clash at the Kobold Cauldron

      

   3. Launch our new world!

      

   4. Login to your world as "Gamemaster". There is no password so leave it blank!

      

   5. To get your friends connected, send them the link from the "Internet" box, in the Invitation Link menu.
